Our Story
Cuarta, a brand born from a heartfelt journey back to my homeland, Peru. As I revisited the town of my upbringing, I couldn't ignore the stark contrast between culture. Yet, amidst this realization, my love and admiration for my roots remained unwavering, fueling a desire to make a meaningful difference. Thus, Cuarta emerged as more than just a brand-- it's an homage to Cuarta Zona, the fourth zone that shaped me.
Cuarta is more than just a place to me; it's where my roots run deep. Walking through the streets of my childhood neighborhood, I couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging. The familiar faces of neighbors greeted us with open arms, enveloping us in warmth and hospitality. I'll forever cherish the memories of growing up here. The people, known for their friendliness and generosity, epitomize the spirit of South America -- always giving, always welcoming.
Our Collection
Our inaugural collection holds a special place in our hearts-- it's what sparked our journey. While wandering through the bustling markets of Peru, I encountered a talented artisan who crafted the most exquisite handbags, each woven by hand with precision and care. Inspired by her dedication, I knew her creations had to be the cornerstone of our debut collection, Every bag, a testament to her creativity and craftsmanship, reflects the essence of her work and passion. We're committed to not only providing fair wages but also giving back to the communities that inspire us.
As you explore these pieces, you'll notice they bear the names of Peruvian cities, landmarks, and creations-- a tribute to the rich culture and heritage of South America. Our hope is that you not only adore this collection but also develop a deep appreciation for the vibrancy and ingenuity of the people who make it all possible.
Our Founder
From a young age, Gianella harbored a deep passion for fashion. Her journey began with volunteering at New York City Fashion Week, establishing her brand Seek and Find, participating in trade shows, and ultimately securing a role at a luxury retailer, where she progressed to the role of a Merchandise Coordinator. Despite these accomplishments, Gianella felt an emptiness in her professional path. She recognized a significant gap in the market, marked by the underrepresentation of artisans and her cultural heritage. Seizing this opportunity for impactful change, she conceived the idea for Cuarta, named after her hometown in Peru. GIanella envisioned collaborating with South American artisans to showcase their exceptional talents. This vision materialized in 2021, and by 2023, she traveled to Peru, meeting her first artisan partner. Driven by a desire to embrace and celebrate cultural heritage and boldness, Gianella created a brand dedicated to this mission.
